Minninglow

We decided to visit Minninglow cairn yesterday, a trip that we've had planned for a while but had yet to carry out. So, after work (I was on earlies and Wednesday is Dani's day off) we set off, parking nearby at the High Peak Trail's Minninglow pay and dismay car park. From there it is a pleasant walk along the trail, an old railway line, to a permissive path leading up to the cairn. The cairn itself is easy to spot, being on a prominent hill surrounded by a dry stone wall and trees;

We thought that we'd have the place to ourselves, but there was another couple there messing about with a drone. They soon left, and we explored the site helped by a certain brown-and-white rescue dog.

Someone had recently left yellow roses on the stones, perhaps as a kind of hallowe'en ritual, not my thing but they will decompose;

It has to be said this is a good spot for a bother, the setting is superb and the atmosphere good, the trees making for a nicely sheltered and secluded site.

On the way home we stopped in Hartington and visited the cheese shop, coming away with cheese, beer, and a little clog wearing mouse. An afternoon well spent.
