Over to Dove Holes this afternoon, to take a look at a local henge called the Bullring. I've driven past it hundreds of times over the years but today was the first time that we visited. An odd site in some ways, there's no stones to bother, although there might have been at one time, and it's next to a church and sports field somewhat detracting from the kind of atmosphere that you'd expect from such an impressive and ancient earthwork. But, it does survive, thankfully.
The lack of stones does make it a bugger to photograph, there's nothing to really zoom in on. A good case for drone ownership (possibly the only case...). The sports field, houses and community centre don't make much of a background either.
Is it stone bothering when there's no stones to bother?
Paul.
